Maintenance and Support

With the introduction of SMS Version 10.0, EMS-I is introducing a new method of updating and support. Users will automatically received future versions and enhanced support through an annual maintenance fee.

The annual maintenance fee will be a 15 percent assessment, namely, 15% of the retail costs of the Version 10 products for which you have a license. Veri-Tech will send its customers annual invoices at each purchase birthday.

Customers can continue use of older versions even if they choose not to pay maintenance. However, technical support for all SMS users without current maintenance will end on April 1, 2008.

  • Current users of SMS 9.x need only pay the 15% annual maintenance fee to upgrade to version 10.0.
  • If you own older versions of SMS you need to upgrade to version 10 at current upgrade fees and pay the annual maintenance fee.
  • Any new licenses for SMS 10.0 will include the 1st year’s maintenance fee.

With the release of version 10.0, a new password will be required or if you have hardware locks, they will have to be reprogrammed. Your SMS v10.0 license will have the same modules you have in your existing license. If you wish to add modules or interfaces, additional license fees will apply. Please contact us for specific pricing details.

Technical Notice

With the introduction of Version 10 some models previously supported in older versions are no longer available. They include SED2D, HIVEL2D, and 1D Hydraulics. These models are no longer supported by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and many customers have experienced a multiple number of problems with their use. If you upgrade to Version 10 and are users of these models, keep your older version active. Obviously, there will be no additional upgrades or support for these models.

SED2D was the only available sediment transport model within SMS. However, FESWMS now handles sediment transport. New USACE transport models are being tested and will be available in the future. These models will most likely interact with ADCIRC and CMSFLOW.
